BUILT LOCAL. SHARED HONESTLY.

Your script stays on your Mac.

NearCam has no account, cloud service, telemetry, or subscription. The prompter can appear in screen shares and recordings, so check your meeting app’s share preview before presenting private notes.

04 / GOOD TO KNOW

A few clear answers.

Is NearCam really free?

Yes. This local build has no subscription, account, or backend. It is an early macOS app shared as an ad hoc signed download.

What Mac do I need?

The current build is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. It positions itself beneath the built-in camera when one is available; floating and selected-display modes are also included.

Can other people see my prompter when I share my screen?

They may if you share your Entire Screen. To keep your prompter private, simply share the specific application window (such as Keynote, PowerPoint, or your browser) instead of your full desktop.

How do I install the .DMG build?

Double-click NearCam.dmg and drag NearCam to your Applications folder. Because this is an independent build without an Apple Developer ID, macOS Gatekeeper may show a prompt on first launch. If so: right-click (or Control-click) NearCam.app ➔ click Open.

How do I report bugs or give feedback?

We love feedback! You can open an issue on our GitHub repository or click "Send Feedback" directly in NearCam's menu bar.
